Basic knowledge and History

The Isles of Geneva being a homemade world does not have easy access reference
books like the forgotten realms. It does however have a detailed history and
culture much like that of any other campaign setting. Rather than tell you
about it piece by piece as we go I am including a summary of the world for
open access to all in hopes this will illiminate confusion and open more
options to the characters for roleplay.

History

150 yrs ago the islands were relatively uninhabited. The mainland to the
east, which is approx the size of Australia (see map), Was home to minitars in
the far North and Goblins slightly to their east. Dwarves live in the moutain
caves and constantly warred with the other 2 nations. TO the south was the
glourious Human Empire that was a mix of Egyptian and Roman culture. It was
made of over 200 city states the largest was Trade City with nearly 1 billion
people and its rumored you can find anything at Trade city. To the far south
there is the mystical Elven kingdom. They remained isolated for many centuries. To
the West of them is a high mountain range that only a few have
ever crossed. The public does not know if there is anything beyong that range.

NOrth of the island nation is a small island chain that resembles Japan. It
is home to an oriental people called the nation of Talyun.
The human empire was ruled by a corrupt tyrant that was overthrown by a young Elf mage named Mordin and his companions. The death of the tyrant caused a chain of events that led to the entire collapse of the human empire and total Anarchy. The druid council of the area said that would watch over the empire
and restore it to health in their desire to see order. Mordin and Logar and company fled to the islands.

There are approx 200 islands about 150 have been explored to date. They have a
trade agreement with Atlantis the kingdom of sea elves below the island that has made them rich. The setting of the kingdom has caused a need for a
great Navy (around 200 ships) Logar wished an island protected from all evil and was granted by
the Gods (The Isle of winds where evil can not even step foot and only good
alignments can enter the temple there.

The stable politics and religions center fueled large amounts of immigrants
from the drwarves human's and elves. Al-Shatel Raquel (argueable the greatest
Paladin to ever live) arrived on the Isle of Winds on command from his God to
train up Young Logar. He came from an Aarabic setting and is darkly tan
and wears a turbin and gold vest. The island nation currently has a population
of 80 million. It houses one of the worlds greatest mages schools, Mordin's school of magic. The islands are governed by a council led by Atrayu, one of the few of the nearly exinct zionist who has been named by the gods the Keeper of the seals, Raquel and Jerico, rumored to be mothered by diety are members as well.

Jerico is a man of great legend. He Is half god. The Goddess of nature bore
him to fight for good because propehcy told of the the return of the 4 horsemen. The horsemen were creatures of incredible power and contained with in seals created by the God. To insure they were never opened all the Good
gods in creation sealed the power of the isle of the winds to ward off evil. The seals were stolen and the Horsemen released but the council with some help from Andrea(the worlds greatest mage now demiGod). THe seals currently rest in the Temple on the isle of the winds.

Most recently a powerful orginization called the Black Raven organized a war
to obtain the seals but failed. However the council stopped them as well and destroyed their leader a powerful Lich. The war that was waged unleasehed thousands of undead upon the islands. After, the lich ws destrtoyed the God's restored the kingdom to its full glory.

The druid council's limited experience with handeling human affairs resulted in the inability to stabilize the empire and large civil wars between rival
city states resulted. The druid appointed an elf, Johnathan Greyfoot aka the
rock to take command of the Empire. Johnathan has strong connects to the druids and was a king of a distant kingdom. This only made situations worse
as the humans did not want to be ruled by Elves. Large scale rebellion
resulted then Johnathan requested the aid of the Elven kingdom's army. Which
esculated the conflict further. To complicate the situation A Drow mage
created a troll army and enlisted a horde of orcs to attack the humans and conquer the empire for himself. The old elven king was killed and JOhnathan
took command of both kingdoms. The human empire due to rebellion and invasion
was lost. Johnathan retreated and only claimed the Elven Empire.
To this day the Humans have a strong prejudice towards Elves.

Logar's son Tassadar rallied the human empire together under his leadership in
such a sever time of crisis. He was pronounced King of the Human Empire.
Now the troll army is all but destroyed and the human empire, devistated by massive war is rebuilding. Tassadar has been named by the people, "Bringer of hope." HIs flag is a white eagle on a blue background.

Logar assended to become the god of righteous judgement and judge the dead of this world as they pass to receive reward of punishment. With his passing his Son Tassadar took both his father's place on the council and the responsibility to keep the seals safe. With him, came the rule of the Human Empire to the Council of Geneva as it bourders extended over the vast territory.

Tassadar's stewardship was short lived as the Dark God of perdition found a way to bound to his soul. The only was to stop him was to willingingly sacrifice and destroy himself. He is survied by a widow Vadella who currently lives in a manor on the Isle itself with a son many rumor is not fathered by Tassadar.

With the vacancy of the Keeper the Gods called upon Atrayu one of the few surviving zionist to take up the mantle. The zionist once lived and died as a society only to protect the seals. Now nearly wiped out by war the few left have rallied to his side and protect the Isle from any evil schemes that may manifest.

Culture

The only theives guild of significance in the area is the Foxes den. Led by a
man named the Fox and few know his real name. SOme think the hardcore law
enforcement deters theives others think the Fox crushes all competition.

Common is the most common language. The only kingdom that doesn't use it as the
primary language is Talyun who use an oriental dialect. The further East you go the stronger a southern draw type accient appears. The islands contain a
collection of all types and every language can be found.

Talyun believe in slavery and are known to have several mining camps of
dwarven slaves on the main land. Some of the most famous heroes, including Logar has trained with Talyun teachers. There is one king who maintains a
protection force of Samari. Again little is know by the public about them.
Their flag is two islands with a sun setting between them.

The people of Geneva are extremly loyal to the government. Mainly because of
the protection they have offered during wars and the inherint goodness of them.
There is realatively no poverty. It is very common to encounter people that
have come to believe so strongly in what the Isle of the Winds stands for they
change their lives and find hope. Crime is also minimal.

Extremly Good relations exist between the Elves and Geneva. Some feel it is
because Johnathan is some kind of fighter Mage and him and MOrdin exchange
spells and secerets often. Most people of the Human empire harbor strong
prejudice toward Elves. They feel they should stay in their trees and leave
humans alone.

The greatest honor two companions, warriors, or even enemies can give is
placing their right hand just below their left shoulder on their chest and
bowing slightly.

Paladin's take oaths the strongest of which is:
I swear on my life and Death I will _______ YOu have my sword, my strengh, and
my __________ (the last will vary according to their God.)

The God's for the most part are from Greek Mythology but with the Isle being the religious center of the world presence and influence are felt from all demoniations good and evil. The isle even houses the temple of light which holds shrines to every good god in the multiverse with Zues at its head.

There is a god of Choas named Abbadon, though speaking his name is forbidden and brings curses on those brave or stupid enough to do so, who is the very essenence of choas from which creation sprang. His desire is to destroy the multiverse and start over. Powerful enough to challenge Zues might he and his followers remain and ever present threat to everything. Though the Dark Lord remains sealed and inprisoned. The Isle is constantly threatenned by his followers attempting to set him free once more.
