Isle of Man/Isle of Golem

Nathan was not opposed to the secret getting out. He detested secrets. Truth brought wisdom, understanding, peace and happiness. Truth would set you free. But half truth, what most of the world lived in, was very dangerous. It was half truth that brought the best of the Genevan mage school in armada to the island. They had learned the truth that intelligent golemns lived on the island. They had learned the truth that travelers from the future had said intelligent golemns nearly eliminated organic life on the planet. Those two truths defined their perspective and motivated them to act. It motivated them to come in force to eliminate the golemns in preemptive strike.

Nathan saw a wider truth. He saw the truth that no heart may walk so far in the shadow they can not find their way back to the light. He saw the truth that the golemns did not appear inherently evil. He saw the truth that the gods brought him back from the dead to determine the truth of these creatures and that mission he had not finished.

He had learned they were impressionable, they had free will but deferred to authority much like humans, and he learned they wanted to survive. More than that, they wanted to thrive. The leaders were busy organizing an effective, if not rigid and merciless, structure and economy. They built and toiled with out rest or food, they did not need either.

He had learned from Aspen there maybe a connection to darkness and an Omega spell she provided him. He sent the spell to Lana, his old friend, at the mage school to research. He also had learned the spark of intelligence had been created by Genevan mages in a project called UMBER. He has issued a summons requesting all information on that project from the only member of the project he thought may give it.

The ships beached and Nathan, the Seeker of Truth, made his way to the deck of the flag ship and stood before Richard Clawson a head mage and who appeared to be in charge.

"Stand down Seeker, you are harboring intelligent golemns created by the Forsaken, we will meet this threat and save our people."

Nathan calmly responded, "They were not created by the Forsaken though they were in their service for time. Until I accomplish what the gods have commanded by finding out the truth of their origin and destiny, I can not allow you to harm them. Anymore than I could allow you to attack a farm village because you think they may attack you someday."

"This is not the same these things are evil. They must be destroyed."

"They are not inherently evil, at least not as far as I can determine."

"STEP ASIDE!!!"

"No, they are not my prisoners but they are my responsibility and I can not let you just destroy them."

"THEN WE WILL DESTROY YOU TOO."

Moving for his sword to defend himself Nathan heard a voice he had all but forgotten. "NATHAN!! It's you, I got your letter but I couldn't believe it." Came the explosion of excitement from a woman just past young but clinging to youth with its last bit of strength--Lana.

Nathan looked to her and responded as if no one else was there, "Did you hear me, talking to you? Across the water, across the deep blue ocean, and across the open sky, oh how I tried to reach you."

"Boy, I heard you. I heard you in my dreams. I heard you whisper across the sea, I always kept you with me in my heart. It made it easier when times got hard."

She ran to him grasping the hand that rested on the hilt of his blade. "Why are you here?" she asks.

"Because I have to find the truth, where did they come from, what is their purpose, what is their destiny? Can that destiny be changed? We can't act out of fear and fear is born in ignorance."
She looks up at him remembering how she was alway touched by his integrity and how he always seems to know and feel the right thing. She admired him for that and she loved him for that.
"Perhaps you all can help me," He said looking up to Master Clawson, "I'm a Paladin not a sorcerer, I am sure there is much truth here you could help me find. And perhaps together we can find the truth and set each other free."

Perhaps it was result of the man's reputation, or perhaps his legendary commanding leadership presence gave his words undo influence in Master Clawson's ear but he nodded his head, and with a softer heart ordered the mages to disembark they were going to meet the golemns.

Nathan took Lana by the hand and led the mages down the beach over the rise. As the view broke the rise of the horizon they saw what must have been dozens or more moving rocks and statues moving in perfect symmetry and efficiency constructing a massive if crude structure that resembled a temple.

"Perhaps together we can build the future," Nathan said lifting his hand in welcome to the souls in stone and brought the forged and the born together.
