Tommy looked at the run down apartment they shared in the slums here at windfall. He had hoped he'd moved out forever. His work at the dock past couple of years had got him a supervisor position. Fesde,r who owns the warehouse, gave him an apartment in the warehouse loft on Merchant Rtreet. It seemed like a different world. But with the Righteou's rebellion and the workers on strike, Tommy was down on his luck. Gina's tips and pay from working The Thirsty Peasant all day weren't enough to cover the rent so they had to move back to the slums -- in a word, it was tough.
She told him she wasn't working for the money-- she was working for love. That they had each other and that was A LOT. But he knew deep down she was dreaming of running away. They often did (dream, that is). Lots of people left for Waterdeep when the war started, but Tommy and Gina stayed. He was convinced that they could hold on to what they had. It didn't really did not matter to him if they made it or not because he still had Gina, and that enough.
That night they knelt down to pray together. They prayed for themselves, for the rebellion and for the dead that walked in the streets. If the Saint could claim the city it would all be good again, jobs would return and he could move back to merchant street. He was half way there, living on his prayers and he was going to make it, he swore.
